A fine selection of products and services and a neighborly atmosphere make shopping in Delaware a pleasant experience.

Unlike many communities, Delaware has maintained the liveliness and vitality of its downtown, which is part of the city's historic district. The Downtown area of Delaware has undergone a recent renovation, which included new sidewalks and replantings of trees.

Downtown Delaware is enlivened by retail and specialty shops marketing antiques, jewelry, music, games, coffee shops, books and magazines, and more! The downtown merchants organization, "Celebrate Delaware" is engaged in ongoing programs that sponsor seasonal shopping events, sidewalk sales and holiday festivities. Downtown Delaware Inc., is working towards the revitalization of the central business district of Delaware.

Residents can take care of most personal business in the central business district or the surrounding local area. Insurance, real estate, plumbing, heating, electrical, photography, legal and construction services are all available in the area. Local, regional and national financial institutions include a wide range of banks, savings and loans and finance firms.

The local area includes other convenient shopping centers. Georgetown Center and Troy Road Shopping Center are west of town. Delaware Shopping Center, Delaware Square and The Delaware Community Plaza are located south of town. And central Ohio's newest and trendiest upscale mall, Polaris Fashion Place, is just 20 minutes south of Delaware off of US Route 23. Polaris is the first mall in central Ohio to offer Saks Fifth Avenue and Kauffman's stores, as well as the usual mall denizens. Each center offers its own unique specialty shops and quality customer service.

Elsewhere in the county, Sunbury draws many antique hunters. Powell, also an antiques center, offers unusual and interesting shops. And Ashley, Ostrander and Radnor serve local shopping needs.
