Whether you long for a hamburger and a shake, or filet mignon and a glass of French wine, you can satisfy your cravings in Delaware. A variety of restaurants, from quick and casual to elegant and relaxed, can be found within the city limits. Here is a sampling of some of Delaware's downtown eateries: Bun's, in business for more than 130 years, offered family dining and a mouth-watering bakery, but sadly was recently destroyed by arson. (Read the related story.) The Brown Jug ("1998 Small Business of the Year") is a full-service restaurant that serves Certified Angus beef, sandwiches, ribs, pasta, chicken, and seafood. Pizza Villa features Italian food in a delightful atmosphere. The newest restaurant downtown, El Acapulco, offers authentic Mexican cuisine. Another new Mexican restaurant, Vaquero's, is located on the southern side of Delaware. Within walking distance of downtown, there are sandwich shops, pizza and subs, and fast food restaurants. The Grand Circuit Restaurant, located inside a restored tudor mansion on the north edge of Delaware, serves a wonderful complement of seafood, steaks and other tasty entrees. Damon's Restaurant, famous for its barbecued spareribs, is located just south of town on US Route 23. A new coffee shop, The Mean Bean, opened its doors in 2001, and is a local hangout for many people, especially Ohio Wesleyan professors and students. Elsewhere in Delaware County, you can find cozy pizzerias, friendly coffee shops, comfortable community taverns and excellent small restaurants. For the diner who doesn't mind a half-hour drive, Columbus offers restaurants of all manner and description. Visitors will find a hotel and motels within city limits, including the Campbell House, the Delaware Hotel, the Amerihost Inn and Super 8 motels just south of Delaware along route 23 and the Travel Lodge just north of town. Overflow crowds are easily accommodated at the many hostelries on the outskirts of Columbus and Marysville.
