Ohio Wesleyan University

One of the nation's leading undergraduate liberal arts institutions, Ohio Wesleyan University was founded in 1842, and today enrolls 1,700 students from 44 states and 43 countries. The University's location, adjacent to downtown Delaware, promotes lively interaction with the city.

Area residents visit campus regularly for cultural events, entertainment and athletic activities. The University offers concurrent enrollment in some college classes for outstanding high school students in the county, and provides pre-school child care and enrichment at the Center for Early Child Development. The "town-gown" partnership is further strengthened by the extensive involvement of Ohio Wesleyan students as volunteers in community service.

University facilities also enrich community life. Beeghly Library is available for research and study; Gray Chapel, Jemison Auditorium and Chappelear Drama Center provide quality performance space; Branch Rickey Physical Education Center is an outstanding fitness facility; and the Hamilton-Williams Campus Center is an attractive location for events large and small.

Methodist Theological School in Ohio

Founded in 1958, the Methodist Theological School in Ohio (MTSO) is one of 13 United Methodist seminaries in North America. Over 2,000 students have graduated from the theological school and serve around the world in ordained, diaconal, or lay ministries. The School enrolls 270 students representing 16 different denominations.

In addition to the Master of Divinity Degree, masters degrees are offered in alcoholism and drug abuse ministry, Christian education, liturgical arts, theological studies, and special ministries. MTSO also offers a Course of Study School program for local pastors, certificate programs for lay ministry, and a Lay Academy: Educating People for Faith and Life in conjunction with area churches.

MTSO os a member of the Theological Consortium of Greater Columbus, Inc., which includes the Pontifical College Josephinum and Trinity Lutheran Seminary. An electronic joint catalog provides bibliographical access to the three seminary libraries, making the Consortium's combined theological library one of the ten largest in North America. Situated on a 70-acre wooded campus south of town on State Route 23, MTSO takes pride in its ties to the Delaware community. Community groups often hold meetings at the School. Residents are welcome to attend worship services, lectures, workshops, concerts, and theatrical productions. The School's Early Childhood Center, fully-licensed by the state of Ohio, provides child care for the seminary community and the wider community of Delaware.

MTSO is a founding member of the Interprofessional Commission of Ohio which is located at The Ohio State University. The School is also a member of the Council for Ethics in Economics.
