Economic Development

Location is the name of the game in dynamic Delaware County. As Ohio's fastest growing county, and recognized as one of the most rapidly growing counties in the nation, Delaware is leading the way in economic development. Delaware's ideal central location is within 500 miles of almost 60% of the U.S. population. Development sites throughout the County offer industrial, commercial and office users the strategic access to the global marketplace they need in this highly competitive economy.

This area boasts economic stability and industrial diversity resulting in a true economic mix. A variety of industrial and commercial sites are fully served with access roads and utilities. A range of economic development incentives is available to assist eligible companies to grow. Enterprise Zone and Community Reinvestment Area tax incentive and growth programs, and a strong low interest Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) to assist with gap financing needs, and other programs, are all designed to strengthen our businesses and our area's economic vitality. The County's economic mix reveals a balance of Manufacturing (18%), Trade (27%), Government (15%), and Service (23%) sectors working together to enhance this area's high quality of life.

The Joint City & County Economic Development Office serving all of Delaware County administers the available economic development programs in the area. The County has over 30 active tax incentive agreements resulting in over $80 million invested in real property improvements and over $230 million in personal property. These agreements have created over 1,300 bew jobs and over $39 million in annual new payroll. The county's RLF has a portfolio of over $3.1 million in active loans. The City of Delaware Economic Development Office provides Community Reinvestment Area tax incentives and other development services within the City. In addition, the office serves as a clearinghouse for information on available sites & facilities, wage and benefit data, tax rates, and demographic information for existing businesses and new business prospects.
